Andy Murray’s fight to win a first Grand Slam title in tennis goes on as he prepares to meet Czech Tomas Berdych who has just sensationally knocked out Roger Federer.

Murray has been in good form throughout the tournament although he has been a little slow to start most of his matches. He has the experience of having played in many Grand Slam finals and semi-finals before so he won’t be nervous about the pressure or the expectation. Murray looks ready to step up and start winning major titles for the rest of his career. The bookies favour him with the best price being 5/11 with Pinnacle.

Berdych has also been playing well at the tournament and he was superb in his quarter-final match against Federer. He is a power player and when he gets everything right he is very difficult to get a win against. He also has a very big serve which will be difficult for Murray to break if he is going to try and win an early set. The Czech is 33/16 also with Pinnacle.
Murray will be looking to get off to a good start in the match which will give him the confidence to relax a little bit which is when he produces his best tennis. He will want to try and show Berdych that he can’t possibly beat him in his best form straight away. Murray needs to dominate because he could find himself in a very difficult position if he gives Berdych any room to express himself. A 3-1 for the Scot is 5/2 with William Hill.

Berdych may well have to dig deep if he is going to get the win in this game and it will be interesting to see how he starts that match. He has never really recovered well in big matches when he has gone behind and his best performances have all come when he’s taken the opening set or the opening couple of sets. A 3-2 win for Berdych is 8/1 with Stan James, it’s just a case of whether the match gets that far.
Murray will quite happily admit that he has been guilty in the past of letting the first set slip by without much attention. He needs to win it if he is going to dominate this match. He lost the first set in his quarter-final and was lucky that his opponent weakened over the rest of the match. This is a mistake he should be looking to put right and he is odds on at 4/7 with William Hill to win the first set.

Berdych will try and power Murray out of the first set with his serve and his ground strokes. He used these to good effect against Federer and the Swiss just couldn’t cope in the opening set. Murray will have to dig in but if the big Czech gets the power side of his game spot on then he could take the first set at a tempting price of 13/8 with Stan James.
